Having a quick read on www.stuff.co.nz today,
I saw with great interest a story about the
Auckland Winter Garden corpse flower.
The giant flower that smells like a corpse, flowers unpredictably, and always draws a large crowd.
1000's have been visiting the gardens to view the rare flower.....I understand the interest, I am one of those whom would want the experience..
Living in Ithaca, and having Cornell University on my door step
offers up a lot interesting experiences.
One experience offered last November I am delighted to say,
was to visit Ithaca's own corpse flower - #WeeStinky
watching Wee Stinky in 30 seconds
most interesting was the high internal temperature the tip of the flower reached overnight.
then getting up close and personal with Wee Stinky
Wee Stinky had opened fully overnight and was quickly withering -
detecting any trace of the corpse odor.
Once the flower dies back it enters a dormant stage,
The university has several varieties in the dormant stage.
leaving Wee Stinky, we stop to view other interesting plants.
Another experience on offer was to head over the road
to the dairy bar for a Wee Stinky Latte!
